After all your hard work and preparation for the fair, you will get to join 300+ students from all over the Greater Vancouver area in three fun-filled days of science. There are tons of different activities going on during the fair. The following information will give you a sense as to what you can expect at the fair.

All events take place in The Nest at the University of British Columbia .

This is the general schedule, please check back here soon for any changes prior to the 2016 Fair.

Thursday, April 6, 2017 
12:00pm to 1:30pm

Students to set up projects in the ballroom in preparation for judging. Safety check of the students’ projects (all students must remain at projects until safety checks are done).

1:30pm to 2:00pm

Welcome and special instructions.

Venue: AMS Nest, Lower Atrium

2:00pm to 5:00pm

First Round and Special Awards Judging.

ONLY judges and students are to be in the display area during the adjudication. Students to be at project display, ready to discuss their work with the judges.

4:30pm to 5:00pm

Photos. Students must remain with their projects until dismissed.

5:00pm to 6:00pm

Dinner. Students to make individual arrangements.

6:00pm to 9:00pm

Second Round and Special Awards Judging.

ONLY judges and students are to be in the display area during the adjudication. Students to be at project display, ready to discuss their work with the judges.

9:00pm

Student dismissal as authorized by the Chief Judge. (Time is approximate)

 

 

Friday, April 7, 2017 
8:00am to 10:00am UBC lab tours (for participants). First tour leaves promptly at 8:30am. Please Arrive by 8:00am
10:00am to 12:00pm School tours of projects (for local schools).
10:00am to 12:00pm Activities available for participants.
10:30am to 12:00pm Additional adjudication and student interaction. Participants to be at project displays unless attending scheduled events.
10:30am to 11:30am Teacher "Meet and Greet" session. (All Teachers and interested Parents)
12:00pm to 12:30pm Lunch. Students to make individual arrangements.
12:30pm to 1:30pm When science and magic mix: a show presented by Lon Mandrake, son of Mandrake the Magician
1:30pm Student dismissal.
 

 

Saturday April 8, 2017 
9:00am to 12:00pm

Additional adjudication, public viewing, and special student activities. An opportunity for students to discuss projects with visitors.

12:00pm to 12:30pm Lunch. Students to make individual arrangements.
12:30pm to 1:30pm Post-secondary workshop, "First Year and Beyond". (for students grade 10 to 12)
12:30pm to 1:30pm

Junior awards presentation

Venue: Hebb 100 (Theatre), UBC

2:00pm to 3:00pm

Intermediate and Senior awards presentation

Venue: Hebb 100 (Theatre), UBC

3:00pm to 4:00pm

Wrap up, and clean up. All participants must have their projects packed and leave by 4:00pm.
